SMG: Analysis Green Goblin, Knight Goblin and Goblin Minions 1-3

Hello everybody.
Continuing with the fast analysis about Spider-Man Miniature Game releases there was left Goblin Cult crew, composed until today by Norman Osborn's Green Goblin and the starter set with 3 pesky flying little goblins and Phil Ulrich's Gobling Knight.

Before analysing in detail each character, the characteristic trait for this gang is the capability of flying of all its members, which makes this crew to become a gang with a high mobility and without the limitations of the other top mobility element as the Batclaw is.

Beginning with Phil Ulrich, on the offensive area he is like almost all the members in the gang, his arsenal is based on the well-known Pumpkin Bombs, which despite of not dealing more damage than a single blood, at least for being "bomb" can be thrown to the ground at 3+ which is a good way to impact enemies with a high Defense value; also as it can be expected from every bomb it can affect to more than 1 model due to its Explosive area. In close combat that Goblin is also armed with a weapon that shouldn't be ignored, although it only causes  just for injuring it applies 2 fire markers on their enemies, it also has a 3 cm range due to its Reach attribute. As Azrael, when rolling collateral damages dice Phil can roll two of them and apply both effects due to his Devastating sword. All this combined with his Attack 5, +1 to impacts in close combat for being Weapon Master and damaging to 3+ makes Ulrich also dangerous in close combat, specially for the Fire he can deal, so his objective should still have at least 2 counters for not receiving a 3rd Fire marker at the end of the round and  at the beginning of his next activation. His attacks reach their maximum power when they are combined with his Lunatic Laugh (ALL the models within 10 cm lose a counter chosen by its owner), so he can ensure his target has not enough counters to extinguish his flames.

Regarding his defensive skills, in addition to his Defense 4 he only has de capability of rerolling Endurance (and Agility) rolls for the Goblin Serum.

Lastly, as a Goblin that he is, one if his characteristics traits is his bipolarity, although on his case is not as tragic as happened with Azrael due to he still will have 6 counters for planning.
Regarding the fliying goblins, all of them are also small, but the inconvenient of moving 8 cm for this trait is overlaped with their flying capability. Each one offers something different:
  • Goblin Minion: More ranged attack power again with the Pumpkin Bombs.
  • Goblin Minion 2: Support thanks to the Distract, although it is more focused for the close combat due to are some of the few attack rolls on this gang that need to impact against enemies Defense. His weapon does the same damage as the already mentioned Bombs.
  • Goblin Minion 3: The perfect Minion for dealing in close combat due to his Mace which allows to repeat failed impacts and damage on 4+.
And finally is the time for the first Goblin: Norman Osborn.
On the offensive area Norman is a flying arsenal with a huge variety of distance weapons, the only inconvenience he can have is all of them are Short Range, but at least all of them let him move and attack without losing ROF, because it has already ROF 1 or for being Throwing:
  • Gas Grenade: Mainly thought for supporting tasks due to the smoke curtain it creates, and the loss of an action counter all the models affected suffers for its Enervating/1. As the Pumpkin Bombs, it is not needed to choose and enemy to throw it, only a visible point.
  • Pumpkin Bomb: The most common of all. Perfect for damaging more than one target and all the commented advantages.
  • Goblin Blast: In terms of damage de best of the four. Although it must be thrown against the Defense of an enemy, against mechanic objectives (Bot, Cybernetic, Robot) it allows to re-roll failed damage rolls, that being to 3+ can guarantee almost all the impacts damage.
  • Razor Bats: The only weapon with ROF higher than 1 and still allows to move first and shoot later due to Throwing trait. They are the same as the Batlings from Batman Miniature Game.
In terms of mobility, the different thing on Norman is his condition of Adaptable, which allows him to increase his Movement to 4, and he also stay Hovering on the air, but this have more impact on defensive area. Offensively talking, this Green Goblin has a lot of danger on ranged attacks, while in close combat que can have until Atack 4 (again for Adaptable) and although having Strength 2+ and being Master Fighter he only causes  for each wound.

Defensively talking is where this Goblin can be hard to be taken down and not only for his Endurance 10 and value 4 of Defense, which can be increased to 5 once again for Adaptable. As it has been commented, Hover trait makes his enemies to impact him to 6+ ignoring any bonus they have, and although agains ranged attacks he can't have any Ping! if he is hovering, his capability of increasing his Defense to 5 is a good protecting measure. To all this his Kevlar Vest must be added, ignoring one damage from all the few (normally) impacts he will receive.

Regarding the rest of the traits, Norman has some of them focused on controlling the enemies as it can be the always painful Persuasive which can make the enemy to activate those models he wants to activate at the end, and others focused to support such as Mastermind and Strategist which will let his gang to have more options to begin the round and having an extra strategy point, respectively. Another remarkable trait is Arrogant which won't let to include on this gang nobody with the same or higher reputation value than Norman, and looking at his cost it is difficult to think in somebody higher, even more having in account the Leader ranks use to be the most expensive.. As it happens with Phil and as it can be expected from any Goblin, Norman Osborn is also Bipolar, which can allow him to have until 9 actions. Lastly, although Norman is Scientific, he doesn't have so much traits using SC, so maybe their main use will be recovering contusions.

Greetings and we keep reading in La Biblioteca de Alfred and Reino de Juegos.

SMG: Análisis Green Goblin, Knight Goblin y Goblin Minions 1-3

SMG: Analysis Spiderman, Punisher and Spider Robots

Hello everybody.
Continuing with the analysis done about Superior Spiderman starter, on this case is time to analyse the original Spiderman, the one played by Peter Parker. Although for this Spiderman there is a miniature since some time, until the formalization of the game it hasn't obtained a profile which is below his Superior version, but it makes his gang to be played totally different to the others because killing enemies doesn't grant the gang any VP due to With great power comes a great responsibility as the trait says.
As his Superior version, the most remarkable aspect is his mobility, because it also has the same set of traits so characteristics of the Spider Man as it can be Acrobat, Climbing Claws (both of them for being Arachnid, as well Reflexes and Super-Jump) and Batclaw, although on this case his Movement is 3, not 4. All this combined with the new trait Super-Jump (for 2MC+1SC, as part of his movement he may move straight up or down until 20 cm with no penalty and without affecting his movement) makes him a great character mobility terms. Also the combination of Agile + Reflexes makes him quite hard to suffer damage when falling.

Offensively talking is where this Spiderman is quite behind his hybrid version due to the only mechanisms he has for struggling are his 40 cm webs (at least they still apply the Enervating/1 effect on his target) and hist Strength 2+, but on this case he only has Attack 3 and no more trait making his hits dealing more damage than the unarmed attack contusion damage.

On the defensive area, he has a 5 base value, and such as his other version just paying 2 SC (Arachnid Sense) he can increase in +1 this value if the atacker is not a Symbiote. He is also Scientific so he has until 4 SC and he can use this trait twice on the same round. He still is immune to steal effects on his weapon due to he has Safe Hands, and if that he could have his weapons stolen, in terms of background he couldn't use his "Batclaw".

As additional details, as it was expected que can join S.H.I.E.L.D. forces due to his affinity with it. We still don't know what Self-Discipline is.
One the reinforcements as a Free Agent for Spiderman and S.H.I.E.L.D. is the unstoppable Punisher, who is a mobile arsenal and quite hard to take him down. In power of fire que has enough ammo for being shooting during 5 rounds, even since the 1st one due to he has a full range weapon and another with medium range, the also can ignore one Ping! for being Shooter and being able to use his weapons in close combat range, with ROF 1, because he is a Dirty Fighter. But he is not worth only shooting, because being Master Fighter makes his unarmed attack much easier in close combat, but he only deals  for succeed hit.

On the defensive area, Frank Castle can be complicated to be taken down basically for the traits on his profile that make him become a rock. He can even advance trough open field to his rivals thanks to his protection against Firearms for his Bulletproof Vest and the high resistance to pain for his Sturdy condition. Even with only 2 counter available he can still be a pain shooting.

The most remarkable thing of The Punisher is he can "kill" the enemies he let them KO if random allows it thanks to Judgement, although watching his lethal arsenal is more possible to kill them by shoots than this way. It is true that it can work quite well with Peter Parker's Spiderman due to this is the only way Frank can obtain VP for "killing" enemies, so on this case his weapons should be used for weaken enemies from the distance and them KO them with his fists and Master Fighter. Lastly, he is Veteran so it can be useful for correcting planning mistakes or empower any aspect during his activation.
Lastly and as a "filler" Henchmen for this gang some little Spider Robots have arrived, and the also are wall climbers (Climbing Claws) and let to different configurations thanks to Multitask trait, allowing to choose any of that options when building the crew:
  • Explorer: Gains Undercover trait and +1 to Movement. It can be perfect if it is used together with their Lantern and Let's Go and the medium range weapons of the Spiderlings.
  • Hacker: Gains the trait Hacking (1SC): One per round can change until 2 counters from enemies within 20 cm (it doesn't have to be in line of sight) with any Bot, Robot or Cybernetic trait. Die to the low volume heigh of those models, the can be hidden behind any box or small scenography elements and disturb enemies with those characteristics.
  • Defensor: Gains the trait Force Field (1 SC): Choose and ally in contact base to base with the Spider Robot and he obtains a +4 Ping! until the end of the round. The interesting of this it is not only limited once per round, so it allow more than one mate to advance with that cover, activating first the Robot for ensuring them that Ping!.
Other of the new traits those mechanic spiders come with is EMP, which allow them to repeat failed damage rolls against enemies with the trait Cybernetic, Bot or Robot and against range Vehicle models. Although it is an amazing trait on them due to they have Strength 6+, the good point of that is that they "ignore" damage negative modifications due to a 6 is always a succeed. Hacker means their favourite enemies should be the "mechanized" ones.

Regarding the trait Bot, remember it offers some protection especially against ranged attacks because Firearm, Mechanics and Beam weapons damage them to 4+, they are also immune to some control effects like Enervating, Hypnotize, Poison and Scared. On the other hand they can't recover any damage, but with only Endurance 2 the normal thing is to kill them with just an attack.

Until here the known profiles for building a Spiderman crew. There are not many options, but for sure in the next months we will see some new releases for him.

Greetings and we keep reading in La Biblioteca de Alfred and Reino de Juegos.

SMG: Análisis Spiderman, Punisher y Spider Robots

SMG: Analysis Superior Spiderman and Spiderlings

Hello everybody.
With the releases of this month about Spider-Man Miniature Game, on this entry and the next one some analysis are going to be made about what offer these profiles in Batman Miniature Game. As it can be expected the first review is focused on the hero that gives name to this expansion: Spiderman.
Beginning with the version inside the starter blister, the set of traits he comes with capture de essence of the walls climber, especially about his most remarkable facet: mobility. He has all the traits related with that aspect: Acrobat, Climbing Claws (both of them for being Arachnid, in addition to Reflexes and Super-Jump) and Batclaw, all this joined with his Movement 4 and the new trait Super-Jump (for 2MC+1SC, as part of his movement he may move straight up or down 20 cm with no penalty and without affecting his movement) makes him a great character in mobility terms. Also the combination of Agile + Reflexes makes him quite hard to suffer damage when falling.

Offensively talking, in ranged attacks he is equipped with his throwing spider webs, one of them with medium range (which combines perfectly with Night Vision) and although it only causes  it makes the enemy to lose at least one action counter if he/she is damaged due to the Enervating/1 effect. The other kind of web is more powerful () but it has a lower range, 20 cm, although it applies the Push effect which is perfect for displacing the enemies out of an objectives they are controlling or disturbing any friend. On both cases they damage on a 3+. In close combat he has not Attack 5 but he has Strength 2+ and Claws, which let him to inflict  with unarmed attacks.

On the defensive area, he has Defense 5, but for 2 SC (Arachnid Sense) he can increase it in +1 if his attacker is not a Symbiote (here is where we all think in Venom, who already has a miniature, and why not in Carnage). The good point of this Spiderman is the fact that being Scientific lets him to use until 4 SC, so he can use that action twice on the same round; this combined with his Movement 4 + Dodge + Reflexes makes him almost immune against ranged attacks. Ad a detail, he is immune to steal effect for having Safe Hands, and if that he could have his weapons stolen, in terms of background he couldn't use his "Batclaw".

As additional detail, due to his Superior Hero condition he doesn't want anyone on his side with a reputation cost higher than 120 points, although with the few known profiles nowadays there is no one inflicting this rule. Also, if during the game he hasn't being able to obtain at least 3 VP by himself, his gang loses 1 VP at the end (Maximum Efficiency). Lastly is curious the detail of having to pass a Willpower roll each time he wants to do a Coup de Grâce because of Parker's conscience still inside Spiderman's body, although it is circumstantial due to his Leader condition lets him to re-roll failed tests of that attribute. This is something to have into account due to his attacks to KO enemies will pass from  to .

Having a look to his characteristic Henchmen, all of them have a profile similar to the cheap cops or Scarecrow militia, with the difference of their Endurance, although it could be said the take some of both due to all of the are Veteran and except 023 the others can Arrest.
Apart from having an expensive value for being Henchmen (both in reputation and $), all of them carry range weapons quite powerful. 04 an 023 come with an X-MG whose danger is in the lack of losing ROF for moving (Assault), which combined with its ROF 3 and 40 cm of range makes the rival to take care during his advance because one single attack of that weapon can inflict until 6x, even one of them (023) can re-roll failed impacts due to his condition of Master Marksman. The third one (035) is armed with a Flame-thrower which is perfect for dealing with crowds, also it applies the Fire effect to all enemies affected, and with the new released rules it is specially annoying for the Symbiotes.

Counting the reputation points inside the starters there is enough for building a crew with 280 points invested only in 4 character, and looking the 110 reputation points of Daredevil and 90 of Punisher it invites to think this is a quality gang over a quantity gang. We will see how the other crews are, but it seems that the famous characters are going to be expensive.

Greetings and we keep reading in La Biblioteca de Alfred and Reino de Juegos.
