BMG Equipos, listas curiosas: Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad

BMG Equipos, listas curiosas: Birds of Prey

Birds of Prey

The Swoop (349/$0)
Hawkman - 109/$0
Hawkgirl - 99/$300
Katana - 75/$0
Catwoman - 66/$0
Estrategia: Aerie Two
Bonus Team:

Ivy's Kiss (348/$0)
Poison Ivy (blíster) 97/$0
Classic Black Canary - 69/$0
Lady Shiva - 85/$0
Animated Batgirl - 47/$0
Animated Catwoman- 50/$0
Estrategia: Aerie Two

Dove, Hawk, Wildcat, Starling.

BMG Equipos, listas curiosas: Teen Titans

Teen Titans

The Robins (298/$500)
Nightwing - 85/$0
Damien Wayne - 50/$0
Arkham Knight - 95/$500
Fan Special:
The Outlaws (288/$200)
Red Hodd - 84/$0
Star Fire - 130/$0
Arsenal (Roy Harper) - 74/$200
¿Tres miniaturas a 300 puntos?
Aqualad, Bunker, Hawk, Dove, Raven, Superboy, Supergirl y Wondergirl.

BMG Equipos, listas curiosas: Secret Six

Secret Six

The Hunt (294/$300)
Catman (Con la estrategia The Hunt) - 100/$0
AO Bane - 93/$0
Stryx - 61/$100
Animated Harley - 40/$200

Black Alice, Chesire, King Shark, Parademon, Ragdoll y Scandal Savage.

BMG Team Builds: Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad

First thing first, we look at the special rules available for the team.  Their negative is significantly large.  The Suicide Mission Table lists the minimum amount of Victory Points that the Team must secure by each turn.  If the Team is not able to secure that many points, one random Suicide Squad member is immediately removed as a Casualty.  Dead.  Right then and there.  Now, the number of Victory Points needed by each round is not too daunting.  In the average 300-350 Reputation game, it is basically 2 VP per turn.  Not an insurmountable number.

The benefits are fairly large, though.  First, each Free Agent in the Team gains a Trait similar to Let's Go!, allowing the model to take their turn immediately following a member of the team for 1SC.  Allowing two Suicide Squad models to act in coordination with each other adds a lot of possibilities.  Also, this is the only team to allow Equipment to be purchased; Aerial Locater puts a Lantern effect on any model on the board for a turn, allowing Suicide Squad models a fair chance at shooting said models, and Airborne Deployment allows a model to be deployed on any table edge at the start of the Third Round.  While not as powerful as the Birds of Prey Aerie Two version, this is Equipment, and therefore not counted by the Snitch Strategy, though it can be countered by Broken Equipment.

(Special note: There are a couple of members of the Squad that have issues, or complications.  The first is Reverse Flash.  This does not appear to be Professor Zoom.  Nothing on the card for Professor Zoom states the use of that model as Reverse Flash; historically Eobard Thawne has not been a member of the Suicide Squad.  The other is Riddler.  The AK Riddler is a leader of his own crew, and brings massive changes to how the entire game is run by changing the Objectives of his crew.  Whether or not those changes are placed on the Squad, and not a Riddler Crew, is as yet unknown).

Now, with all that taken into account, let’s look at a couple of potential lists, using available models:

Mobbing (300)
Copperhead
Capt. Boomerang
AC Deadshot
Killer Frost

Not much more than a small crew that can work in pairs, trying to dish out enough damage to keep them safe.  Copperhead’s Technique followed up by anyone’s Coup de Grace (using the Squad’s special Follow Me! Rules) help even the odds a bit.  Watch the ammo.

Big Guns (350)
Black Manta
Deathstroke
AK Harley

That’s a lot of heavy shooting and more than a fair share of close combat.  Move them together straight at anything you want dead.  Each model has its own movement abilities as well, if you want to chase down a model, get across the board a bit faster, or head for an objective.  I have my doubts of using only 3 models in a 350 Rep list, but I also have my doubts about stopping this crew from doing whatever it wanted.

So, the Suicide Squad seems to be made for taking a small list of Free Agents and putting them together, which I think is what many people were looking for.  It has a huge disadvantage in the possible loss of models through Suicide Mission, but also provides a couple of fair positives in the equipment and pairing rules.

For the future, though, there are quite a few models coming their way:
Amanda Waller, Black Spider, Bronze Tiger, Diablo, Gorilla Grodd, King Shark, Rick Flag, Enchantress, Slipknot, Reverse Flash

I’m speculating that Amanda Waller may be able to override the Suicide Mission rule, when she makes it to the table.  Looking at the list also shows they will have a Speedster, a Magic-user, at least one more Large model, someone with Fire, and a couple of other mid-ranged models.  In all, probably Suicide Squad is probably going to be the most complete Team in the game.

BMG Team Builds: Teen Titans

Teen Titans

First thing first, we look at the special rules available for the team.  More than any other team so far, the Titans seem to have negative traits that hold them back.  The Youngsters trait, in which the enemy may reduce the Action Counters of member of your own team, making your own models weaker than their card says.  Thus, when putting together a Titans list, your models generally would perform better in a list of a different crew.  Sidekick level characters are not considered Youngsters, however; therefore the best use of the Titans list is by taking at least three sidekicks.  Otherwise, those models are better off being used in a different crew.

Now, the Titans do have a couple of Strategies that only they can use.  The first is First Response in which 2 Titans may move an additional 2D6 before the game.   The second is Impulsive Team which grants 2 models an additional Attack Counter, but not allowing any models to put more counter in Attack than their natural score.  Neither of these Strategies are all that impressive.  Movement before the game is nice, but can also be replicated by Patrol, Reinforcements, and Fast Advance.  The ability to use Attack Counters in the first turn is going to be limited; Ranged Weapons might get a chance, but would have to catch a model in the open AND in range AND in light.  Seems very situational.

Now, with all that taken into account, let’s look at a couple of potential lists, using available models:

The Robins (300):
Nightwing
Damien Wayne
Arkham Knight
AC Tim Drake

Yes, you can take the Robin Four-Pack under a Batman Crew.  The only change here is the possibility of taking Arkham Knight, who is a very good character.  In taking this crew, I would advise a Turret and Advance.  Arkham Knight can be an excellent Turret model, dominating the field in his line of sight. Let him provide covering fire/a secure area for the other to Advance.  The Advance team is made of the rest of the Robins; under Arkham Knight’s covering fire and Tim Drake’s grenades, the team should be able to Advance to their objectives.  Do not be afraid to have Damien run off and grab a Loot or a Riddle; he should be able to move across the table and out of danger fairly well.

Big Money (350):
Cyborg
Kid Flash
AK Red Hood
Batgirl

Two big Funding models in Cyborg and Red Hood, but without gear to buy it’s a safe play.  You get a fair amount of shooting here, and all the models are good at moving around the board.  You would want to use misdirection; making your opponent think you want to move a certain way, only to really make your move in a different direction a turn later.  Impulsive Team could have a use here; Cyborg and AK Red Hood gaining an extra Attack counter allow them to make a ranged attack (reasonable for these models) and still have counters to put into Movement or Defense for the rest of the turn.

Fan Special:  The Outlaws (300):

Red Hood
Starfire
Arsenal (Roy Harper)

Three models at 300 points?  I think you pretty much just shove Starfire directly at whatever might be the problem and back her up with a lot of shooting from the boys.  Hell, throw Red Hood right at the problem and let him shoot at it up close too.

The Titans seem to be fairly limited in model choice and in their own rules.  The only real reason I see to use the Titans rules, as they stand right now, is if you want to mix some models that cannot be normally taken together.  The Outlaws can only be formed using these rules, Arkham Knight is usually only a Scarecrow crew model, and Ravager is usually only for “bad guy” crews, so if you want to mix those models together with the standard Batman "good guys," then the Titans are for you.

For the future, though, there are quite a few models coming their way:
Aqualad, Bunker, Hawk, Dove, Raven, Superboy, Supergirl, and Wonder Girl

I’m assuming Hawk and Dove will have Teamwork, which I am starting to appreciate.  And Superboy, Supergirl, and Wonder Girl each have the potential to be incredibly strong models themselves.  I can’t wait to see how these add to the Titans.

BMG Team Builds: Birds of Prey

Birds of Prey

First thing first, we look at the special rules available for the team.  As always, there are negative and positive additions to the Team.  The negative here is fairly simple, but potentially huge; the Birds CANNOT use Coup de Grace.  Given that most of the Birds deal primarily Stun damage, this leads to a dangerous situation.  They have the ability to KO, but rarely the ability to bring about Casualties.  Therefore, their enemies might recover and make it back into the game.  Without an Arrest ability, the Birds are at a serious disadvantage.

The benefits of using the Birds, though, are strong as well.  First, all Birds gain the Stealth Trait.  While many of the Birds already have this Trait, giving it to the entire Team does create some new dangers.  Poison Ivy with Stealth and Mortal Kiss?  Don’t mind if I do.  Also, they have the special Strategy Aerie Two granting two models the ability to start the game anywhere on the board at the beginning Round Two or LATER.  Yes, this does take 3 Strategy Points and can be countered with Snitch, but if it works, it works wonders.

Now, with all that taken into account, let’s look at a couple of potential lists, using available models:

Standard Fair (300)
Classic Black Canary
Animated Batgirl
Animated Catwoman
Huntress
Strix

This is all about maneuverability.  Stealth, a good amount of Batclaws and Acrobats, and healthy amount of Movement Counters means you should never be in a fight unless you want to be.  Choose Objectives like Riddle and Loot so you do not have to stay in one place.  Attack enemy models only when you know you can defeat them in a turn.  Use the Sewers and terrain that limits line of sight to your advantage.

The Swoop (350)
Hawkman
Hawkgirl
Katana
Catwoman
Aerie Two

Place only Hawkman and Hawkgirl on the table during the first turn.  Have them Fly High immediately.  At the start of the second turn, place all your models exactly where you want them.  Grab a Loot and run with Catwoman.  Have Katana defend a Titan canister; with Martial Artist, Titan and Adaptable, she is a Defense 6, non-swarmable anchor of a model.  The Hawks should target a key model like a Leader or a turreting shooter, and use their Teamwork to lay low that model.  Hawkman with a mob bonus from Hawkgirl and a Power Strike attack can Knock Down most anyone with just a pair of attacks, allowing Hawkgirl up to 5 Attacks using Teamwork hitting that same target on a 2+ for 1 Blood/1 Stun each.

Bonus Team: Ivy's Kiss (350) *Recent discussion seems to state that Harley's Affinity: Ivy does not work with the Bird of Prey rules.  Otherwise, I'd be inclined to to to get her in this list

Poison Ivy (blister)
Black Canary
Lady Shiva
TAS Catwoman
TAS Batgirl
Aerie Two

Remembering that Stealth + Ivy’s Mortal Kiss seems like a pretty fun combo, and that Aerie Two lets you place Ivy anywhere on the table before Raising the Plan, you could get a Mortal Kiss on any single model.  The rest of the list can take on either of a pair of roles; either chasing down Objectives or sitting back and waiting for the opponent to come to their Objectives and offering a counter-punch.

The Birds of Prey are one of my favorite parts of the DC Universe, and fit into the Batman Universe (and BMG) seamlessly.  And I’ve been waiting for a time when a reasonable list could be put together.  The negative/benefit ratio is not out of whack with the Birds, so I could imagine their position as fairly neutral.

For the future, though, there are a few models coming their way:
            Dove, Hawk, Wildcat, Starling

Again, we can imaging a Teamwork situation with Hawk and Dove.  Wildcat will hopefully bring a heavy hitting combat model to the team.  And Starling will add some shooting ability, which is greatly lacking.

BMG Team Builds: Secret Six

Secret Six

First thing first, we look at the special rules available for the team.  Secret Six has both some positive and negative Traits for using the team.  The negative is fairly significant; any Crew that is not a Batman, Green Arrow, or Law Forces Crew gains additional VP for inflicting Casualties against your crew.  Fluff wise, this represents that the Secret Six or not fully “bad guys.”  In game, this means 14 of 17 Crews get bonus points for Casualties.  However, this is also counterbalanced by the fact that KO and Casualty VPs are not as high as some other teams.

The benefits of running the Secret Six are twofold.  First, each member, assuming there are six or fewer members, then each member adds Teamwork 2/ (ALL) to their card. Currently, you need to spend 445 points to have the least expensive version of 6 models, and have no option to have more than 6, as there are not enough released models; therefore we can assume that nearly all games that include the Secret Six will allow the Teamwork Trait to be added.  I have only fairly recently begun playing with the Teamwork rules, but this does seem like a fairly significant addition for free.  You can also add either or both of the following Strategies; Hunt to grant your boss the Assassin 2 Trait or Secret Resources to either add or subtract a Sewer or Lamppost.  The first seems pretty strong, especially for only 1 Strategy point, the second seems fairly situational.

Now, with all that taken into account, let’s look at a couple of potential lists, using available models:

The Hunt (300)
Catman  (The Hunt strategy)
Bane
Stryx
Animated Harley

In this case, I would move Catman and Bane forward, trying to draw the enemy to them.  Ideally, Bane gets to use Catman’s tokens through Teamwork to cause the most damage.  Catman can break off at any number of places using Tracking to secure an Objective, take on a Boss, or engage a lone model.  Meanwhile, Stryx and Harley should be hunting down Loot and Riddle markers, or Stryx can engage single model targets.

Straightforward (350)
AO Bane 96
AC Deadshot 76
Hatter 75
Stryx 61
Animated Harley 40

Not much different here, I would have Bane take center stage, drawing the enemy to him.  Deadshot and Hatter act as his mobile support; they trail behind and add firepower to help keep Bane moving.  Again, Stryx and Harley are there to attack single models or grab Objectives.

The options for a Secret Six Team are very limited at the moment.  There are exactly 6 models (in name) that can be chosen, and that is all.  Still, it is a fun group of models, making for some interesting pairings.  And the Teamwork Trait really does add a powerful and adaptive element to each model.

For the future, though, there are a few models coming their way:
Black Alice, Cheshire, King Shark, Parademon, Ragdoll, and Scandal Savage

A quick review of that list seems to favor the possibility of some high-rep, heavy hitters like King Shark and Parademon, but also some more reasonably priced models like Chesire and Ragdoll.  I’m looking forward to seeing what develops here.
