Painting Step By Step: Emperor Penguin, using ink

Hello again readers of La Biblioteca de Alfred, today we wanted a step by step of the Penguin with more style Hugh Hefner of the game, since this fight in the streets of Gotham with his dreesing gown in the purest Playboy style.

Apart from this, in this step by step I wanted to show you how to use in a reasonable way and with head the use of inks, and not submerging miniatures directly in the inks, or staining them with a brush as if it were the wall of your house ...

As a first step I decided on a light gray primer, I used this Stonewall Grey of Game Color. Is a very dark miniature but with this primer we will get lights more marked than printing the miniature in black.

Glass containers for BMG

Hi!
A few days ago the inspiration came to me to create a small set for the game tables. With the huge number of items available in the market the easiest thing was to buy something, some walls, some boxes or anything else. But when I was going to through some empty paint bottles to the rubbish I thought the idea of using them as a glass container. So there is this tutorial.

Materials and tools
·        Empty bottles of paint
·        2 Clips
·        2mm DM board
·        Paper
·        Coffee rods
·        Stirland Mud (Games Workshop)

·        Detail Cutters
·        Modelling Knife
·        Scissors
·        Super Glue
·        PVA Glue

Process
The first thing to do is to be sure that the empty paint bottle is clean enough, both parts the upper part of the bottle and the cap. Completely free from any rest of paint. Then we are going to use the Super Glue to fix the cap.

We will take out the paint label (we will use it later so don’t trough it!!).

We are going to cut off the extra material from the front part of the paint and the hook from the rear part with the detail cutters. We will use the modelling knife to polish it a little more.

To hide the cap, and simulate the vandalism of the city, we are going to use the same label of the paint. Moreover, we are going to use little pieces of soak paper (with a mixture of water and PVA glue) to reinforce the vandalism effect. Also it is useful to hide, a little, the label.

The next step is to cut the clip. We will mark the zone, and make holes there, where it will be glued to the paint bottle. The best way to fix it is with some super glue.

Then, we are going to glue the glass containers to the 2mm DM board as the base. We can use the imagination to put them in a determinate way. In my case I glued them closer enough to add some wooden planks, to simulate a barricade.

To reinforce the vandalism effect we can create little wooden planks with the coffee rods. Making 3.30cm-long bits (log enough for a BMG base). We will glue them with PVA glue and put them in the correct place (it will depend entirely on you!)

We can make more alive our glass container zone by adding different things, as a kerb or adding pebbles. When all will be correct for us, we will use a thin Stirland Mud layer to make the asphalt.

The last thing to do is to go outside and find inspiration, taking some pictures of the city, painting the diorama and fill it with tones of street paintings!

Painting Step by Step: Nightwing AK - Batman Miniature Game

Hi people, today we bring you a small tutorial and I say small, because this miniature is a miniature with very few colors but with its complicated part if we want to take advantage of the armor.

As always we will start with the primer in this case I chose black because it is a very dark miniature.

Monthly releases of Knight Models games

Knight Models has published the new releases of the month for its two games, including the new starter pack of Falcone Crime Family for Batman Miniature Game, which until now had no starter of its own, and Darkseid and its Parademons for DC Universe Miniature Game as a new faction.

Without more, we will analyze these releases briefly:

Painting Step by Step: Katana

And finally the turn comes to the last member box of the suicide squad. Katana!

Primer
As in the rest of the other cases we are going to use Chaos Black and White Corax from Games Workshop (for short, if you see that I put an asterisk * after the name of the paintings will mean that is a GW paint, otherwise I will put the brand back).

Skin
To begin with the skin we are going to use Tallarn Flesh*, if you do not have this paint, you should look for some clear-flesh paint (something lighter than Cadian Fleshtone*). We will give to the miniature a wash mixing some Seraphim Sepia* with Reikland Fleshshade* to make an oriental tone flesh. Finally, we will make some lights with the base color and a mixture 1/1 of Flayed One Flesh* in prominent areas.

Pants
We are going to use Brown Gray (of Scale75 brand) as the base color, we will give an Abaddon Black* wash (if you see that when you wash with paint the effect is not right, some hand soap to the mixture with water. The soap will break the surface tension of the water and you will have a uniform wash). We will illuminate with the Brown Gray and raise it by mixing with Dawnstone*.

Top (to call it somehow), mask, armband and knee pads
We will use Krieg Khaki* as base color, we will apply Seraphim Sepia*, lighting with color base and last light with Ceramite White*.
To do the mask, we will do a small wash with Xereus Purple* in the area of the "eyes". To knee pads also we will do the same wash and brush the details with Xv-88* illuminated with XV-88* mixed with Dorn Yellow* and end lights with pure Dorwn Yellow*.

Jacket and hair
Necron Abyss* as base color, wash with Abaddon Black* and we will make the lights with the base color mixed with Administratum Grey*.
To paint the hair we are going to use Abaddon Black* as the color base and adding lights with Dawnstone* and Administratum Grey*.

Red parts
We are going to paint all the red parts of the miniature with Mephiston Red* mixed with Rhinox Hide* as the base color, to make the lights we are going to use Mephiston and Evil Sunz Scarlet*. Then we are going to draw a circle in the mask with the same shade of red base, we will draw another circle in the downside of the previous circle with Mephiston Red* and a small line near the white part with Evil Sunz Scarlet*.

Yellow details of the jacket
We are going to start with XV-88* illuminated with Bubonic Brown* and Dorn Yellow*, then we will make a wash with Seraphim Sepia* and we will illuminate it again with Dorn Yellow*.

Boots, gloves and brown parts
For these parts we will use the same colors that we've been using in the brown parts of the rest of the squad. Rhinox Hide*, Mournfang Brown*, Xv-88* and a gentle washing at the end with Agrax Earthshade* if you find that the color is going a little bit brightly.

Metals and base

Once more, we can take advantage of the fact that the miniature has not too many metal parts to apply a non-metallic-metal technique. If we decided not to use this technique, we can use the typical Leadbelcher*, followed by Ironbreaker* and Runefang Steel* for plated metals, and Gehenna’s Gold*, Auric Armour Gold* and Runefang Steel* for the gold. We will end the base as we like and that will be all. Katana is ready!

Last spoilers and realeses

Hi to everyone.

Throughout these last days (and weeks), Knight Models has shown us by its social networks what have us prepared for the near future.

Starting with the most recent, there is a new painting competition, whose bases are:
The model must be a 35mm DC Knight Models miniature, and can be either a single miniature or a complete crew/band. You must have painted the model yourself, and we will need a great picture to judge your skills.

You have since today until April 30th to get your entries in, so take your time and make sure your picture is great! Show us your entries in the comments of this post before the date announced.
And of course, a competition is not a competition without prices! We will pick the best in show and reward the painter with a bundle of Knight Models miniatures!
This also served as identification card of the miniature of Darkseid, who had been announced the previous day by means of a small teaser.
Following with the possible releases, also have been shown teasers about Organized Crime and the Court of Owls. Although it is true that Organized Crime already has some own things (Gangsters, Red Hood, Loeb and Penguin TV), to date there is no starter of the band, so we may be in the face of the first one headed by Carmine Falcone himself, as it could not be otherwise.
About The Court of Owls we have already 2 starters and 1 Free Agent (Gotham Butcher), so whatever reinforcements for this "closed" band is more than welcome, why dont think of a much-desired Sidekick?
About the campaign book that will begin to reach people in the next few days, it has been announced that the Batmobile that was already known will be playable with several profiles, called Skins, and not only by Batman, in fact has already been seen the Joker and Batman Modern Age versions (and if you look back you can remember one full of questions of Riddler)
In addition to all this, they have continued to publish articles of interest in it new website, about how to start with certain bands in both BMG and DCUMG.

Greetings and we keep reading in La Biblioteca de Alfred and Reino de Juegos.

BMG: Analysis Electrocutioner

Hi to everyone.
Like many other times, we have a profile that stands out for something, and all those who remind Lester Buchinsky of the video game Batman Arkham Origins will agree that this "label" of to be "nobody" fits to him perfectly, and is that Electrocutioner is, along with Harley Quinn Animated, the cheapest Free Agent of all. In addition, now yes, already it is possible to be said that the 8 assassins that made presence on Arkham Origins are all available in Batman Miniature Game.

Comparing #001 - Emperor Penguin vs. The Penguin

Hi there!

Today I start a new se tion in which we will compare models from BMG. The idea is to analyse miniatures with something in common, trying to determine how to use each of them.

With the release of Emperor Penguin, I decided to see who is the best Leader in a Penguin Crew.

Ideas for choosing strategies in Batman Miniature Game

Although BMG strategies are an optional part of the game, they are extremely important and can give us the victory on a few occasions, and more now, with the prohibition of the Snitch strategy, if you play Batmatch rules.

This option of the game gives a tactical depth that enriches it a lot, since the choice of strategies can and should vary depending on the scenario and/or rival, which makes Batman Miniature Game much more interesting and fun, if possible.

Alternative data sheets #003: BMG. Rabbid

Hi there!

Once again we upload a new profile for Batman Miniature Game. In this case, as in the previous ones, the character is not (yet...) design by KM's crew. Let's wait (and encourage them!).

Today, Josito (writer, translator and Hidden Boss in Alfred's Library) has prepared a Data sheet about a weird and lovely character....

A Rabbid!!!!!!!!!!!

Battricks #002 - Electrocutioner (Taunt)

Hi there!

Today I continue with another post about tricks I usually use in BMG.

As I already said in the previous post, I'm not an expert and, of course, I don't want to teach anybody. But maybe we can share all the ideas to use models in different ways.

We the realease of Electrocutioner, a character you can use in every crew, I decided to propose some tricks with the rule: Taunt. This trait, nowadays, is only used by Lester Buchinsky y Big A., new Penguin's henchman.

Alternative data sheets #001: BMG. Al Sah-him

Hi there!

We'll try to propose an alternative data sheet every Sunday, using Knight Models' models or adapting miniatures from other brands to DC Universe.

Josito has prepared an alternative profile for Arrow (TV show) as Al Sah-him. This Arrow can be act as Green Arrow's or League of Shadows' Leader.
